Benchmark Designer Homes WABL Wrap Round 13

The Benchmark Designer Homes had four wins and 12 losses against the Perry Lakes Hawks in last weekend’s Western Australian Basketball League games played at the Leisurelife Basketball Stadium.

Development League player Michael Vigor was the highest Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks’ scorer on the day with 25, which coincidentally is the third game in a row in which he has got that exact score.  Under 15s men’s team players Jarrett Donker and Giordano Monteleone were the next highest scorers with 23 and 20 respectively.

Under 18 Gabby O’Sullivan was the highest women’s team scorer on the day with 19 while under 15s player Samantha Tognolini had 18 and under 16s player Jessica Hughes along with Development League player Monique Kickett both had 16.

The under 12 men’s team suffered their first loss in eight weeks narrowly going down to the top-placed and unbeaten Perry Lakes Hawks 37 to 41.  They remain in second place in the five-team Northern Conference with seven wins and five losses.  Kyle Bowen top-scored with 14 while Luke Simonette had 8, Daniel Ong 6, Reece Hewitt and Nicholas Moody 4 each and Nicholas Pyne 1.

The under 12 women’s team lost 24 to 93.  Chloe Smith scored 6, Maddy Craig 4, Sophie Pyne 2 and Samantha Campbell 10.  They remain in 5th conference place out of six teams with one win and 12 losses.

The under 13 men’s team lost 41 to 53, which sees them in fourth conference place out of six teams with five wins and eight losses.  There was a good spread of scorers with Jordan Hands getting 6, Nicholas Ramsay 3, Stephen Pover 18, Ibraham Soliman 2, Adam Parore 7 and Daniel Skelton 5.

The under 13 women’s team lost 38 to 62, which sees them in fifth conference place with two wins and 10 losses.  All Redbacks’ players scored with Talethia Valentine getting 9, Emerson Lambert 6, Chloe Smith 2, Amelia Khuu 2, Gabriella Pyne 4, Tayla Naudi 6 and Vanessa Harwood 1.

The under 14 men’s team had an exciting 48 to 47 win.  Matthew Biletic scored 9, Jeet Mann 16, Sean Jakens 3, Connor Jansen 4, Jack Wagner 8 and Shaquille Maharaj 7.  They are now in fourth conference place out of six teams with seven wins and six losses.

The under 14 women’s team lost 15 to 46.  Sally Ann Mettam scored 4, Alex Rough 2, Jessica Richardson 3, Rebecca Samson 2 and Juliet Ratima 4.  They remain in fifth conference place.

The under 15 men’s team lost 72 to 76 in a tight encounter.  Lattrell Matthews scored 9, Jarrett Donker 23, Lloyd Harwood 6, Alex Bevilaqua 2, Giordano Monteleone 20, Jacob Marr 10 and Yoseph Soliman 2.  They are in fourth conference place with seven wins and six losses.

The under 15 women’s team lost 48 to 102.  Taylor Burtenshaw scored 3, Samantha Tognolini 18, Rachael Goodger 2 and Lucy Noll 9.  They now have one win and 12 losses and are in fifth conference place out of six teams.

The under 16 men’s team now has a season record of three wins and 10 losses and are in fifth conference place out of six teams after their 49 to 132 loss.  Darren Lopez scored 1, Matthew Biletic 2, Luke Fletcher 19, Liam Briggs 15, Hasula Poogoda 2 and Domenic Romeo 10.

The under 16 women’s team lost 36 to 60.  They are in fourth conference place out of six teams with six wins and seven losses.  Natasha Ziino scored 4, Bianca Parora 4, Jessica Hughes 16, Kristie Hawes 4 and Lori Ashworth 8.

The under 18 Division 2 Men’s team had their first win of the year with a score-line of 54 to 50.  Their win resulted from having a broad range of scorers, exampled by the fact that no single player scored over 10.  Mark Elliott had 8, Josh Hindle 8, Jonathon Birkett 5, Brad Smeaton 2, Bradley Hall 5, Giorgio Milio 5, Sanni Mandred 8, Scott Sampson 9 and Raphael Bianchini 2.  They are in sixth conference place with one win and 10 losses.

The under 18 Division 1 Men’s Team lost 52 to 65.  They remain in sixth conference place with two wins and 11 losses.  Travis Uphill scored 1, Stephen Thick 5, Charles Corr 2, Jamieson Lewis 3, Steven Vigor 16, Declan Everett 7, Filip Glisic 3 and Ben Ellis 9.

The under 18 women’s team lost 60 to 72 to the top-conference placed Hawks.  Caris Dinardo had 8, Carlie Richardson 6, Jessica Jakens 11, Gabby O’Sullivan 19, Tiarn Burtenshaw 5 and Madison Ireland 11.  They are in second conference place with six wins and seven losses.

The under 20 men’s team lost to the top-placed Hawks 49 to 102.  Travis Thornley scored 2, Geordi Murray 6, Shaun Bartlett 11, Sheldon Godfrey 4, Alessio Milio 5, Ryan Vincent 7, Ashley Flynn 8, Jordan Ah Chee 2, Tighe Rodgers 3 and Jarryd Doherty 2.  They are in 8th place out of nine teams with two wins and nine losses.

The Development League women’s team beat the top-conference placed Hawks 61 to 54, which sees them in second place in the six-team conference with 10 wins and three losses.  Monique Kickett scored 16, Katarina Ualkovic 2, Alix Hayward 10, Natasha Nicholson 2, Kristy Jedrzewewski 4, Latoya Wallace 6, Catherine Tinley 6, Narelle Henry 13 and Frances Clarke 2.

The Development League men’s team got its revenge against the Hawks for their only loss earlier in the year, winning 85 to 57.  They are now two-games clear in top place in the six-team conference with 12 wins and one loss.  All Redbacks players scored with Jarrad Jackson getting 19, Michael Vigor 25, Jake Whately 9, Jared Faint 6, Tim Rendulic 2, Ashley Stephens 13, Reece Dempster 4 and Blake Smith 7.

The Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks’ WABL team games this Sunday are predominantly against the Rockingham Flames, again at the Leisurelife Basketball Centre.  The one exception is the under 20 men’s team which is playing the East Perth Eagles at 3.30PM.  All other individual game times can be located by following the WABL links from the Redbacks’ website www.perthredbacks.asn.au.   Our club website can be accessed to view a gallery of photographs that includes a range of WABL game photos on different occasions.
