REDBACKS BOW OUT OF FINALS RACE

Both Southside Mitsubishi Redbacks’ men’s and women’s teams bowed out at the quarter finals-stage of the State Basketball League play-offs last weekend.



The Redbacks’ men’s team lost in the best of three series against the top qualifying side, Lakeside Lightning, one game to two. Although one-game up after their stunning 96 to 89 point the previous weekend at their home venue, the Redbacks were unable to capitalise in the next two away games losing to 81 to 105 on the Friday night game and 85 to 98 in the deciding Saturday night game.



The top-scorer for the Redbacks on Friday night was USA import Chris Lynch with 27 points along with 9 rebounds. Point guard Joel Wagner was their next highest scorer with 16 points and 2 assists while power-forward Reece Dempster scored 10 points and brought down 5 rebounds.
