The Southside Mitsubishi Redbacks’ shooting guard Ryan Neill suits up for his 350th State Basketball League (SBL) game this Saturday against the Perry Lakes Hawks at Perry Lakes with the women’s game starting at 6PM and the men’s game at 8PM.

We would encourage as many Redbacks as possible to be there to celebrate this great achievement.

In his 349 games to date Ryan has:

* hit 1911 field goals from 4,411 attempts at 43%;
* hit 754 three pointers from 2021 attempts at 37%;
* committed 530 fouls;
* made 692 assists;
* made 107 shot-blocks;
* made 353 steals;
* committed 694 turnovers;
* taken 389 offensive rebounds and 698 defensive rebounds for a total rebound count of 1,087;
* made 612 free throws from 746 attempts at 82%; and
* scored 5,188 points.

Ryan has received the following honours/awards:

* Redbacks’ Fairest and Best 2007

* SBL most valuable player in 2004
* SBL All-Star Team v Wildcats in 2004;
* Redbacks’ most valuable player in 2004;
* SBL scoring title in 2004;
* Redbacks’ SBL team most consistent player in 2002, 2003 and 2004;
* Redbacks’ SBL team Free Throw Trophy award in 2002, 2003,2004,2007
* Redbacks’ Len Vlahov Memorial Trophy in 2004; and
* Cougars SBL team Runner Up Most Valuable Player award in 2000.

And all of this from a player who was told once by a senior coach that he would never make SBL ranks. It is a lesson to all to never lose sight of your goals. We can only wonder what Ryan will achieve in his next 350 games!!

The Southside Mitsubishi Club congratulates Ryan on his 350th game and his remarkable SBL career.
