Perth Redbacks player Robert Cassir and the Under 18 WA Metro team fell at the last hurdle in Launceston on Saturday night. Having remained undefeated the whole way to the last game, they dropped the Gold Medal match to Victoria Metro 49-66.

Having beat Vic Metro on Thursday (77-72), many were predicting a close match up. However the team played well but the Vic's proved they were a dominant force in Junior basketball, taking out the Womens title as well. Robert played 17:10 in the match and had five points (1/1 field 1/1 three points). He also had 1 rebound and 1 assist. Cody Ellis top scored for WA with 16 points & 13 rebounds but he was the only one in double figures. WA shot just 34% and put up 46 shots compared to Victorias 79.

The loss means the team brings home the silver medal which is an outstanding achievement and we are proud of Robert and all of the WA team. We look forward to seeing Robert back at WABL for the clash with the Willetton Tigers on Sunday.
