Redbacks 1-1 Against Senators

The Perth Redbacks have won one of the two games at Belmont Oasis tonight. The Women won their encounter against the second placed Senators, inflicting just their second loss of the season.

Led by Christine Boyd with 18 points and 14 rebounds, the Redbacks led at every change and by as much as thirteen. They survived a come back from the Senators and converted from the free throw line late in the game, to hold one for a 6 point win, 48-42.

In a game that had it all with two technical fouls and two ejections, the Redbacks were unable to get over the line for their second upset win in a row, going down 84-96. Down by just one point at the first break, the Redbacks had a bad second quater, scoring just 19 points and giving up 28, to be down by 10 points at the main break.

Stirling increased their lead by just one in the third, a low scoring affair at just 17-18. The fourth quater was won by the Redbacks who couldn't cut the deficit to much more than 6 points. They won the quater 22-19 but were unable to get over the line. Matt Earp and Carmie Olowoyo were ejected late in the fourth for begining an all in scuffle, involving all ten players on the court which sparked the Redbacks with a couple of baskets but they ran out of time and Stirling converted when they needed too.

Both the Men and women face off against Mandurah tomorrow night (Saturday 30th) at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre. Your support would be greatly appreciated in these tough games. We look forward to seeing all our fans at our home double header next weekend, Friday the 6th of July against the Men's & Women's reigning premiers the Lakeside Lightning and Satuday 7th July against the Rockingham Flames. With both games at Belmont Oasis and lots of recent Redbacks wins theres no excuses for everyone to not show up on at least one night!
