Redbacks in WABL Grand Finals

The Perth Redbacks have two teams through to the WABL Grand Finals this Sunday the 24th of September. Congratulations must go to the Under 21 Women and the Division 1 Men who have had convincing wins in their semi finals on the weekend. They have both set up a date in the final weekend of basketball.
We would also like to congratulate our Under 16/2 and Under 16/1 Mens teams on an outstanding effort on the weekend. Both teams fought hard and were in a winnable position right through till the end. They lost their matches by less than 10 points each. The results from this weekends games were:
WABL Semi-Finals (17th September)
* Under 16/2 Men: Redbacks 43-50 Stirling.
* Under 16/1 Men: Redbacks 48-57 Wanneroo.
* Under 21 Women: Redbacks 50-41 Wanneroo.
* Division 1 Men: Redbacks 94-77 Willetton.
The Under 16/1 Mens team had a great season dropping just 3 games. They were looking to go back into the grand final after loosing by a point last year. With the loss of state player Robert Cassir due to injury they put up a great effort to be infront early in the game. The Wolves fought back to take the game by just 9 points.
The Under 16/2 Mens team were also infront for the majority of their game until the Stirling outfit came back from more than 10 points down to steal the game by just 7 points.
Both these teams have represented the club well this season and are unlucky not to be continuing into next weekends Grand Finals. These two teams have outstanding talent and will no doubt be in contention again in the 2007 WABL Season.
For our two succesful teams last weekend they have just one final hurdle remaining. This Sunday the 24th of September at Perry Lakes Stadium, they will face off against their opposition. The Men will face the 2006 SBL Champions, the Lakeside Lightning, while the women will face perennial power house, the Willetton Tigers. We urge all members and supporters to come down and support these two teams as they represent your club. Their games are as follows:
