Redbacks Women Down In Three

23-8-2006 - By PBA Media
The Perth Redbacks womens team have bowed out of the finals in three games to the WIlletton Tigers.
Game two on Saturday night saw a big crowd come to watch a great game and they weren't dissapointed. It was a night of missed opportunities for both, both in terms of the game and a chance to get into the Semi Finals. Shooting just 23.5% from the floor and managing to get to the line 38 times to hit just 22 (58%).
A Perth team that looked tired and fatigued after a long season took the game right to Willetton but their ability to finish off on the night cost them dearly. In game three the margin hovered around the three to six point mark for the entire game. It took a three from former Redback junior Kate Malpass with just 5 seconds left on the shot clock and two minutes in the game to send Willetton on their way to the Semi Finals. After that the margin extended to be 11 points 74-63 at the final siren.
A deserved Willetton team will now have home court advanatage against the women from Lakeside in the three game Semi Finals series.
We would like to thank the Redback women for an outstanding season and we all look forward to seeing the ladies back next season, and of course their outstanding fans and sponsors.
