Redbacks Win Game One!

The Perth Redbacks Womens SBL team have tonight beaten Willetton Tigers to take a 1-0 lead in the best of three 1/4 Finals series. The game was an outstanding game of basketball from both teams with the Redbacks leading for majority of the game and Willetton constantly fighting back.
Narelle Henry was in outstanding form for the Redbacks opening the account with the first score of the match to put the Redbacks up 3-0. The Redbacks then held a lead by as much as 12 points throughout the match. Perth went into the last break up by 4 points and Willetton came back to take the lead again, it was however short lived with the Redbacks gaining a 1 point lead thanks to a huge Narelle Henry three. The eventual score ended up at 73-70 in what was an outstanding game between these two teams.
Narelle Henry top scored for the Redbacks with 21 points while the ever reliable Brooke Hiddlestone was also a great contributor with 20 points. For the Tigers Kate Malpass top scored with 18 and Nicole Bourke had 15 points. It was however an unfortunate end to the game with Willetton player Sarah Apostolou injuring herself in the closing seconds of the match. We wish her all the best for a speedy recovery!
Game two will be on Saturday night at Willetton Stadium with a 6:00pm tip off. This game is assured to be another great game which could go right down to the wire. We need the great crowd from tonight down at Willetton Stadium to cheer our Womens team on to help get them over the line one more time and into the Semi Finals. The Women look forward to seeing everyone down at Willetton for another win!
