Parsons steps aside from Cougars
The Cockburn Basketball Association (CBA) would like to share that our 2016 Men's SBL championship coach, Matt Parsons, has decided to move on and not coach the Cockburn Cougars Men's SBL team in 2017.
Matt has coached the Men's SBL team at Cockburn for the past two seasons and has been integral in the creation of a great SBL team that enjoyed terrific success in both years. Matt was named the Basketball Western Australia SBL Men's Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2016. A great honour for himself, his family and the Cockburn Basketball Association family.
CBA is currently working to create sustained success in all facets of our Association, including our SBL program. It is through discussions around this that Matt has shared with the CBA Board that as much as he loves the club, it is time for him to move on as we have different directions for success in the short term future. As much as this is not an outcome we want, we respect Matt's decision.
The CBA Board, as I am sure does our whole association family, want to sincerely thank Matt for the time and commitment he has shown our Men's SBL team and we wish him well in all he and his family do in the future.
