Cougars jump into fourth, Lightning maintain lead (Friday night wrap)

The Lakeside Lightning have continued their strong form with their 11th win of the season, taking down the South West Slammers by 34 points.

The Lightning were a force to be reckoned with, leading convincingly from the start to finish the game 110-76.

Lakeside were led by young forward Simon Lokan (21 points, 13 rebounds) while Senario Hillman led the way with 33 points for the Slammers.

The Cockburn Cougars jumped into fourth position after taking down the sixth place Perry Lakes Hawks 103-81.

The Cougars showed determined resilience, slashing a three point deficit after the first quarter to take control of the game and secure a 22 point victory.

Cougar's pair Jeremiah Wilson (31 points, 12 rebounds) and Gavin Field (19 points, six rebounds) were too much for the Hawk's Matt Rosinski (23 points, six rebounds) and Shane Ross (18 points, 10 rebounds).

In the women's league a top four clash saw the up and coming Slammers take down the Lightning 63-53.

The Slammers came from behind to slash an 11 points deficit at half time to take their eighth victory of the season.

Kim Sitzman was the star for the Slammers finishing with 30 points and 15 rebounds in a game where the Slammers controlled the rebound count 63-43.

35 points and 13 rebounds from import Stephanie Jones was not enough to stop the Cougars from succumbing to their ninth loss of the season as the Hawks defeated the Cougars 77-64.

Controlling the game for the Hawk's was Belinda Mayger (17 points, 10 rebounds), Chelsea Boyanich (12 points) and Tegan Walker with 12 points, 12 rebounds.
