Two SBL Stars Make Australian Boomers Team

Basketball Australia can announce the twelve athletes selected to represent the Boomers on a two match tour of China.

The Boomers will depart Sydney this Friday, June 26th, and will be available to media at the Qantas International Check-in desk from 7:00am to 7:30am AEST.

The team was selected following the conclusion of a five day training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra and will contest matches against the Chinese men’s national team on June 28 and 30.

“The players selected displayed a combination of physical grunt and skill on a daily basis during the camp and I’m looking forward to getting on the road with the team and seeing the same effort and intensity in a game situation,” Head Coach Brett Brown said.

Following the tour to China a Boomers squad will undergo a second training camp in Sydney before tours of Argentina and Brazil.

After an eight day break a third and final camp for 2009 will be undertaken before Australia takes on New Zealand in the FIBA Oceania Championship in Sydney on August 23.
