Still work to do for Buccs

WE REACH Round 15 in the State Basketball League and people are already talking about the finals. There is work to do yet for the Buccs.

The Buccs are back on the road this weekend where they will face fifth-placed Titan Interactive Wolves tomorrow and Australian Central Eagles on Sunday Afternoon.

Ray Evans' men are well aware of the threat the Wolves pose, when despite a good start in their last encounter, they went down at Tip Top 100-85 back in Round 6.

The form that saw them go on to an impressive eight-game unbeaten run after that defeat would surely see them do the business tomorrow night. Speaking to the Guardian yesterday Evans said the Buccs were keen to reverse the last result.

"We obviously want to reverse the result from last time. I think we really struggled containing them on defence and we let them penetrate a little bit too much. It's going to be a good challenge they're one of the teams we haven't beaten, so we know what we've got to do," said Evans.

Against the Eagles, Evans' men secured victory at home with a predatory final quarter that saw them fight back from 75-67 down. Last week the Eagles who currently sit second from bottom, narrowly missed out to the Wolves by three points. No doubt Evans has made a note of that.

"We know what they're like, we were maybe a bit lucky to beat them at home as they got up by ten points in the last quarter. But as the boys know any team can beat you so we'll have to play at the top of our game," said the Buccs' boss.

Evans confirmed that Tom Witts is hoping to play after losing a tooth in training on Wednesday and Greg Brown is unavailable due to personal commitments. Grab Monday's Guardian for a full review.
