Week 4 SBL PowerPlayer of the Week

The State Basketball League has released the Week 4 PowerPlayer of the week awards. Each week thanks to PowerPlay Sports one Womens and one Mens SBL player is awarded the SBL PowerPlayer of the week award. The winner receives a $50 voucher for PowerPlay Sports in Subiaco.

Week Fours WSBL winner is Go for 2&5 Perth Lynx and Rockingham Flames star Kaye Tucker. Tucker led her Flames to a 2-0 weekend to continue their undefeated start to the season. In their first game against the Cougars Tucker had ten points as her side won 73-59. In the second match the Flames beat the Australian Central Eagles by 21 points. Tucker had 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists while shooting at 64% from the field and 100% from the free throw line. Tucker averages 19.3 points and 8 rebounds a game so far this season and is leading from the front from the Flames.  

Three other WSBL players came under close consideration for the award with Lakesides Natalie Young having 20 points and 9 rebounds at 52% in her teams 13 point win over the Senators. Stirlings Dannielle Devenny was also in close consideration with her 20 point and 12 rebound effort. Lastly Jacinta Bourne from the Redbacks had 24 points and 7 rebounds at 85% from the floor and 66% from outside.

Others in consideration for the Week 4 PowerPlayer of the week were Casey Haggar (Flames), Kelsey Maffin (Eagles), Renee Wharekura (Hawks), Alicia Rinaldi (Senators), Brooke Hiddlestone (Redbacks), Dannielle Lipscombe (Wolves), Brittany Morgan (Eastern Suns), Samantha Norwood (Eastern Suns), Danika Pisconeri (Magic) and Elizabeth Zezan (Eagles).

The Mens competition saw many great efforts and the award was a very close call between two players again. Wildcats star Tom Garlepp ended up as the winner of the PowerPlayer of the week award. His effort of 27 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists in his teams 10 point win over the Australian Central Eagles standing out.

Also in very close contention was Australian Central Eagles player Stephen Weigh with his effort of 42 points (50% from the floor and 60% outside) and 11 rebounds. Ryan Neill (Redbacks) also had two good games with 27.5 points per game at 82%. Adrian Majstravich (Eastern Suns) was also unlucky to miss out with his 25 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists.

Others that were considered for the award were Andrew Musulin (Cougars), Bryce Birch (Cougars), Joseph Harrel (Flames), Joe-Alan Tupaea (Hawks), Ryan Sofoulis (Lightning), Luke Payne (Lightning), Seb Salinas (Senators), Joel Wagner (Redbacks), Damian Matacz (Wolves), Luke Meyer (Buccs), Michael Le Blanc (Buccs), Robert Epps (Tigers), Clint Read (Tigers), Michael Haney (Giants), Alonzo Hird (Giants), Aaron Edwards (Slammers), Ben Smith (Eastern Suns), Andrew Bowman (Magic) and Jarrod Balcombe (Eagles).
