The Week 7 action begins on Friday night with two matches that sees the Perth Redbacks face off with the Perry Lakes Hawks at Belmont Oasis and the Rockingham Flames take on the Willetton Tigers at Mike Barnett Sports Complex.

Then on Saturday night, the Joondalup Wolves take on the also undefeated Mandurah Magic at Joondalup Basketball Stadium, the East Perth Eagles face the Lakeside Lightning at Morley Sport and Recreation Centre, and the Cockburn Cougars battle the Perth Redbacks at Wally Hagan Stadium.

Beginning on Friday night, the Flames and Tigers meet in a rematch of last year's semi-final series and Rockingham will be unleashing new import Chastity Reed to make her debut up against a Tigers team now also featuring their new import Jessica Hootmann.

Reed was the No. 25 pick in the WNBA draft in 2011 and has most recently completed her stint in Romania and has been cleared to play with the Flames this Friday night.

Both teams are vastly new look units in 2017 but Rockingham is coming off an ANZAC Day victory over the Cockburn Cougars to improve to 3-3 while Willetton also beat Kalamunda on Tuesday to stead to a 3-3 record as well.

With two new imports locking horns and with both proud groups coming into the contest at 3-3, it shapes as a beauty.

The other Friday night contest is fascinating as well with the Redbacks hosting the undefeated Lady Hawks.

Perry Lakes has won its opening six games of the season now after downing the Stirling Senators again on Monday night, but Perth is on a three-game winning run after losing its first two of the season.

Emilee Harmon has proven a monster inside for the Redbacks so far this season and Perry Lakes coach Deanna Smith is fully aware of the threat she provides as well as the rest of the Perth team heading into the contest.

"Their new import Harmon looks like she is really hard to stop so she will be an interesting challenge for our bigs, going bigs to bigs," Smith said.

"I think we'll get Toni back after she got married and that should be good for us. They also have some sharpshooters so we just need to work on our defensive principles to get some stops and then our offence generally takes care of itself."

The game will also see former Redback Gabby O'Sullivan play for the Hawks against her former team for the first time. Smith isn’t expecting the occasion to get to her.

"I've been in that situation before myself and you are always going to have some nerves around that but Gabby is a full professional athlete on all levels," Smith said.

"I can imagine it only will fire her up and I think we will see some great things from her as we continue to do so within our team stuff. She's not the type of person to go out and try to take over or prove a point. She will go out and get her job done, and play tough. That's why we love her."

Then on Saturday night, last year's minor premiers and grand finalists the Lady Wolfpack host the undefeated Magic at Joondalup Basketball Stadium.

The Wolves are coming off a loss at home last Friday night to the Lakeside Lightning as well and have actually lost their last two games.

They will again be without point guard Shani Amos against a Magic team who has added Nici Gilday and Carly Boag to a group that is strong and experienced from last year.

That has seen Mandurah win its opening five games of the season and Wolves coach Craig Friday is fully aware of the challenge they present especially without Amos in his line-up.

"We'll be better for Nikita (Martin) and Klara (Wischer) getting some minutes into them last week so that should help us without Shani this week. Their challenge now this week might be defending our taller guards and if we can expose that, we will," Friday said.

"They are hard and aggressive, and play in a very similar way to us I think. They are pretty hardnosed and they have some consistent scorers, and they are a team that doesn’t give up.

"They fight to the end. It's a great challenge for us and they are up and about. It's a good opportunity for us to roll out, play another game of hoops and see what we can do."

The Eagles also host the Lightning on Saturday night with East Perth looking for its second win of the season and to improve on a 1-5 record.

Lakeside did well to beat Joondalup on the road last Friday night but 24 hours handed the Cougars their first win of 2017 so they will be looking to bounce back and improve on their 4-3 record.

The Cougars then host the Redbacks also on Saturday. Cockburn won its first game of the season last Saturday night against Lakeside but then lost at home to Willetton on ANZAC Day to slip to a 1-6 record. The Redbacks will be coming off their game with the Hawks on Friday.

Finally on Sunday, the Tigers back up their clash with the Flames on Friday night by taking on the 2-4 Slammers to close out the round.
