WSBL Player of the Week

The week one Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded Kate Malpass of the GoodLife Homes Willetton Tigers.

The Willetton Tigers opened their 2016 season with a convincing away win over the East Perth Eagles at Morley Sport & Recreation Centre on Friday night 72-57.

Malpass carried on from where she left off in 2015 after being named in the All-Star Five, starring for the visiting side to finish with an equal game high of 19 points along with 6 rebounds, 2 assists and a block.

On Saturday night the Tigers backed up their Friday night efforts with an impressive win over reigning champions the Rockingham Flames 83-54 in the Grand Final re-match.

Malpass dominated as she amassed 25 points to go with 5 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals and a block.

The Tigers look hungry in 2016 after last year’s heartbreaking Grand Final loss and the form of Malpass is an ominous sign to opposition teams.

Special Mentions:

Ebony Antonio (Willetton Tigers), Nikita Lee Martin (Joondalup Wolves), Amber Land (Stirling Senators), Lisa Wallbutton (Perth Redbacks), Jessica Jakens (Perth Redbacks), Amy Kidner (Joondalup Wolves) and Ali Schwagmeyer (Lakeside Lightning).
