Tupaea faces three weeks suspension

East Perth Eagles veteran Joe-Alan Tupaea will spend three weeks on the sidelines after being found guilty at the tribunal this week.

The tribunal hearing took place on Wednesday 23 July where video footage of an alleged incident during the East Perth Eagles and Perth Redbacks game on 19 July at Belmont Oasis Leisure Centre was reviewed.

Tupaea was found guilty by the tribunal of unsportsmanlike conduct and striking resulting in a three week suspension.

The suspension comes as a massive blow for East Perth as 350 game veteran Tupaea will now miss the final game of the 2014 season and the first round series playoffs.

An appeal has been lodged by the East Perth Districts Basketball Association and an appeals tribunal will be held on Monday 28 July.

Tupaea will miss this weeks crucial game against the Cockburn Cougars on Saturday night and await the result from the appeals tribunal on Monday night.
