The week seventeen “Kickz101 Perth” Men’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Jordan Wild of the Stirling Senators.

The Senators put on a show in front of their home crowd on Friday night as they thrashed the visiting Cockburn Cougars 106 to 74 on the back of an exceptional performance by Cody Ellis and Jordan Wild.

Ellis made 6 of 9 three’s to accumulate 29 points to go with 10 rebounds and 4 assists, while Jordan Wild recorded 21 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block in the Senators win.

Stirling had the difficult task of backing up Saturday night’s performance with a game against a fresh Kalamunda Eastern Suns team on Sunday at Ray Owen Sports Centre.

Jordan went Wild for the visitors recording a game high 29 points and 20 rebounds as the Senators got up by eight points 105 to 97.

After two crucial wins over the weekend, Stirling have now made their way into the eight and currently sit in seventh position on the MSBL ladder.

The week seventeen “Kickz101 Perth” Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Kari Pickens of the Lakeside Lightning.

For the second consecutive week and fourth time this season, Lakeside’s import Kari Pickens has taken out the SBL Player of the Week award after an outstanding performance on the weekend.

Lakeside made the trip down the Kwinana freeway on Friday night to take on the Magic at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre. Pickens was unstoppable for the visitors recording a game high 26 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals to lead her team to an eleven point victory over the Magic 69 to 58.

Pickens has been in great form throughout the 2014 season ranking in the top five of the league for both points and rebounds per game. Pickens is currently averaging a double-double of 19.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game and will be looking to continue that form into the SBL finals.

The Lightning currently sit in second position with a 16 and 3 record and will face the top placed Rockingham Flames on Friday night at Lakeside Recreation Centre.
