Coaches look ahead to Week 3 of the SBL

SOME SBL men's and women's coaches shared their thoughts about their upcoming matches this weekend in Week 3 of the 2014 season.

WOMEN'S
MANDURAH MAGIC
Coach – Randy Miegel

I think we would have learnt a lot from the game against the Flames and remain confident going into this weekend's double-header.

We are only focused on the Redbacks who we play first on Saturday night which we know will be a tough game and they will be desperate to get a win on the board.

They played us tough at the Blitz and we must contain Jakens who is playing well for them this season so far. If we can control the boards and get good high percentages shots it will go a long way to getting the win.

We then back up Sunday for clash against the Cougars at home.

ROCKINGHAM FLAMES
Coach - Ryan Petrik

These games against the Wolves are always a clash of styles.

Whilst we finished first in scoring in 2013, the Wolves had arguably the best defence in the competition.

We seem to run into them every year in the playoffs, and the series always go to three games.

We bring in offense in the way of the Bournes, Tucker, Garbin, and the best scorer in the league in Whitcomb; whilst they match that up with what we consider the two best perimeter defenders in the league in Amos and Burns, and a terrific defensive scheme from Coach Alava.

MEN'S
ROCKINGHAM FLAMES
Coach – Mark Utley

This weekend sees us travelling to our solitary game on the Sunday. Wolves are an experienced team who have won a championship so we need to be switched on and ready. It has been a good week on the track for the Flames in preparation.

COLLIE CRANE HIRE SOUTH WEST SLAMMERS
Coach – Ty Harrelson

This week we go to Lakeside for their home opener. Last season we split the series with the Lightning and look forward to a competitive game Friday night between two undefeated teams.
