Redbacks out of finals race

The Bank of Queensland Redbacks State Basketball League team lost their second quarter-final playoff game against Lakeside Lightning 90 to 106.

This means they are out of the finals race after losing the first two games in the best of three playoff series.

The Redbacks shot at the same field goal percentage as Lightning of 45%, had the same number of rebounds of 44 and had 17 compared to Lakesides’ 15 assists.

The difference in score was largely as a result of the 27 points that Lightning scored from their 45 free-throw attempts, compared to the eight points Redbacks scored from their 11 free-throw attempts.

Swing-man Bennie Lewis was the Redbacks’ highest scorer with 22 along with six rebounds.

Shooting guard Jarrad Prior had 17 and six rebounds while point-guard Joel Wagner had 16 along with seven assists and six rebounds.

Centre Justin Brown had 13 rebounds and eight points while power-forward Michael Vigor scored 14 and had six rebounds.

Lakeside progress to the semi-finals and will meet the East Perth Eagles in the best of three-game series.

The State Basketball League season starts up again for the Bank of Queensland Redbacks in March 2014.
