Week Seventeen SBL Players of the Week

The week seventeen Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Antonia Edmondson of the Willetton Tigers.

The WNBL West Coast Waves and New Zealand International player was outstanding for the Tigers in their weekend double-header against Stirling and Perry Lakes.

On Friday night, Edmondson was unstoppable as the Tigers hosted the Senators at the Willetton Basketball Stadium, scoring 26 points to go with 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks all in 28 minutes of game time without recording a single turnover, leading her team to victory 77-52.

Backing up her impressive performance, Edmondson was again excellent on Saturday night as Willetton took on Perry Lakes at the WA Basketball Centre, scoring 20 points, 3 rebounds, 8 assists and 1 block as the Tigers defeated the Hawks 80-52.

Willetton currently sit second on the Women’s SBL ladder and if Edmondson is firing alongside the likes of Wallbutton and Marsh come finals time, the Tigers are in serious contention to take out the 2013 Women’s SBL Championship.

Friday night against the Tigers was a must win game for the Senators as they cling to hope of sneaking into the top eight and clinching a finals spot.

Senators import Cory Cooperwood put on a master class in front of the Tigers crowd at the Willetton Basketball Stadium to score 25 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 blocks, leading his team to a thrilling five point victory 100 to 95.
