Week Eight SBL Players of the Week

The Mandurah Magic Men are currently riding a six game winning streak in the Men’s SBL on the back of some stellar performances by their star import Taylor Mullenax who has been named the Week Eight Men’s SBL Player of the Week.

Mullenax put on a herculean performance in Mandurah’s 94-87 Friday night win over Willetton recording a game high 34 points, 14 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 3 blocks.

After playing 46 minutes the previous night, Mullenax travelled to Perth on Saturday to do battle with the BOQ Perth Redback’s and again top scored with 27 points to go with 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks in the Magic’s one point overtime victory.

The People’s Choice East Perth Eagle and former Perth Wildcats development player Jarrod Balcombe was also outstanding over the weekend.

In Saturday night’s blockbuster game against the highly ranked Perry Lakes Hawks Balcombe shot 20-of-27 from the field to record a game high 44 points and guide his team to a twenty eight point victory.

In a closely contested game on Saturday night, Sitzmann backed up her performance to record a game high 37 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal to almost single handedly take South West over the line as they went down to Kalamunda by three points.

195cm BOQ Perth Redback’s centre Marita Payne was unlucky to miss out on the weekly award after a stand-out performance in Perth’s 57-44 defeat of Mandurah on Saturday night with 19 points, 18 rebounds, 1 assist and 5 blocks.
