Red-hot Flames continue win streak (Week 8 Women's Wrap)

Rockingham’s charge towards the top of the Women’s State Basketball League ladder continued in round eight when they extended their winning streak to seven games with a triumph over East Perth.

The Flames dropped a whopping score on the Eagles, winning 102-70, with Samantha Whitcomb (25 points) and Kaye Tucker (23) the chief destroyers.

Rockingham remain unbeaten since round three and are posing a real threat to ladder leaders Wanneroo, who had a bye in round eight, and second-placed Willetton.

Six of the 10 WSBL teams played double-headers but Perry Lakes were the only side to win both of their games on a weekend of mixed results.

The Hawks beat Stirling 83-70 on Friday, with Gabriella Clayton (24 points) and Natalie Burton (21) leading the way.

And they backed up a day later as Burton (15 points) and Rosie Tobin (14) spearheading a 60-39 win over East Perth on Saturday.

The Eagles endured a torrid weekend, having been beaten by Rockingham the previous night.

Mandurah matched East Perth with a 0-2 record for the weekend courtesy of defeats to Willetton (62-48) and Perth (57-44).

The Redbacks split their double-header after losing to South West 63-52, and the Slammers also split their weekend after losing 79-76 to Kalamunda.

Stirling bounced back from their loss to Perry Lakes with an 86-72 win over Cockburn on Saturday.
