Pre-Season Blitz fixtures released

The State Basketball League is pleased to release the fixtures for the 2012 Pre-Season Blitz to be held at the WA Basketball Centre on March 2, 3 & 4.

All fourteen SBL associations along with the four WA Under 18 state teams will compete in the tournament which will be the only opportunity to see all teams play before the season tips off on March 16.

Over the weekend each team will play four games in a shortened format against other SBL associations or one of the Under 18 Country or Metro state teams who will be preparing for the National Championships in April.

“This is a great opportunity for supporters to come down and check out not just their own team, they can also see where all of the other teams are at and watch the future of WA basketball with our Under 18 state teams” said Competitions Manager Christian Rice.

“This tournament is vital as it will be the only hit out that some teams will get before the season starts on March 16, plus it gives us a chance to all come together under the same roof and prepare both on and off-court for the season.”

The format will see each game consist of two 20 minute halves, with the clock only stopping in the last three minutes of each half and both teams will only be allowed to call one time-out.

The shortened format, without finals, will allow teams to rotate players more and also see four different teams throughout the weekend.

“We believe that this shorter format is perfect for the Pre-Season Blitz and working in conjunction with the Basketball WA Country Championships is also beneficial to our four regional SBL clubs.

“The benefit of this format is that it is a lot quicker and allows teams to play more games, see different teams and the fans also get to watch more games over the course of the weekend in a quick and exciting format.”

The fixtures can be downloaded below and can also be found at www.sblblitz.sportingpulse.net which will be where all Fixtures/Results will be posted from the weekend.

Entry into the Pre-Season Blitz is just $6 per person per day which will gain supporters access to all games for the entire day.
