Big steps taken by Antonio

It was only a few years ago when Ebony Antonio was missing out on making a state squad, but now, just out of her teenage years, she is one of the most athletic players for the West Coast Waves and will be representing her team in Alice Springs this week.

Perth girl, Antonio, started playing basketball at the tender age of eight-years-old at her local club in Willetton. She eventually had the urge to become part of a state team, but it took a few years of tryouts before her ability was recognised and she has been achieving great things ever since.

“I tried out for Under 16 State and didn’t make it, so I tried out again and didn’t make it. I finally made top age 18s and that was my first state team so I was a bit of a late comer,” she said.

“Then I got into SBL when I got back from 18s and I’ve played three years of SBL and won three Grand Finals, so that’s my biggest achievement so far.”
