Eagles force game three against Suns

East Perth and Kalamunda will play off for a spot in the women's State Basketball League semi-finals on Saturday night after the Eagles forced their series to a deciding third game with a thrilling 61-58 victory.

After losing game one 69-61 in Kalamunda last week, East Perth held off a late rally from the Suns to pinch the second match of the best-of-three quarter-finals series.

The winner of game three, which is at Morley Sport and Recreation Centre at 7.30pm on Saturday, will advance to the final four and face the winner of the series between Perry Lakes and Cockburn.

East Perth's Kate Fielding, who struggled in game one, played a huge part in ensuring the series made it to the third game, finishing with 22 points. Samantha Norwood added 14 points, while Nicole Jorre St Jorre had nine points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Adrienne Jones top-scored for Kalamunda with 19 points as star import Leah Rush was limited to just 11.

The Eagles led by as much as 13 points in the second quarter and still had a six-point advantage heading into the final quarter.

But Kalamunda came back and were three points ahead with two minutes to go, only to be held scoreless while a Fielding three-point basket and Jorre St Jorre field goal put East Perth in front once again.

Suns youngster Jones missed a three-point shot to put her side back in front with four seconds left and the visitors couldn't get the ball back in time for another attempt to win the game.

Kalamunda's 25 turnovers played a huge part in its downfall and saw it lose despite shooting at a better field goal percentage and a better three-point clip.
