Hawks and Wolves looking to strike Lightning (Round 11 MSBL Preview)

Top side Lakeside Lightning face their toughest test of the men's State Basketball League season as they face fellow top four sides Total Connections Perry Lakes Hawks and Wanneroo Wolves in round 11.

The Lightning are barely ahead of second-placed side Cockburn Cougars and will have to beat Perry Lakes on Friday and Wanneroo on Saturday to ensure they remain in top spot at the end of the round.

And the Wolves, who are level with Lakeside on 11 wins, have won their last four games and will be confident of handing the Lightning their third loss of the season.

Perry Lakes will be looking to bounce back from an upset loss to Australian Central East Perth Eagles last week with victory against Lakeside.

The Hawks, who had won five straight before losing to the Hawks, also face a Rockingham Flames side desperate to get back into form.

Rockingham has slumped to 12th spot with defeats in eight of its last nine games and need to improve quickly to get back into finals contention.

ATD Stirling Senators will be looking to consolidate their top eight spot with victories against Rockingham and Southwest Slammers.

The Senators will be heavy favourites against both the Flames and the Slammers, who have lost all 14 games this season.

Defending champions Southlands Boulevarde Willetton Tigers are back into top four contention after victories in four of their last five matches, but face a tough test against SKILLED Goldfields Giants.

Giants import Matthew Rosinksi has averaged 40.5 points per game from his last two outings and the Tigers will have to stop him to become just the second side to win in Kalgoorlie this year.

Sun City Plumbing Geraldton Buccaneers have lost their last five and need to beat Mandurah Magic to maintain realistic hopes of making the finals.

Perth Redbacks could slip out of the top eight unless they end their disappointing run and defeat the Cougars, who have won four of their last five.

And East Perth will be hoping to boost their finals hope with victory over fellow top eight contenders Kalamunda Eastern Suns, who will be looking to end their two-game losing streak.
