Week Five PowerPlayer of the Week

Lakeside Lightning Import Luke Payne has claimed his first PowerPlayer of the Week award for 2011 after guiding his team to a big win in Kalgoorlie with an undermanned team.

Lee received the honours over Perth Redbacks guard Ryan Neill to claim the Week Five $50 voucher to PowerPlay Sports in Osborne Park.

The American starred with 38 points, seven rebounds and five steals in the 88-81 away win over the SKILLED Goldfields Giants in the absence of rebounding machine Jarrad Prue (18 rebounds per game) and highly skilled forward Ben Beran (31 points per game).

Runner-Up Neill was equally impressive in his team’s 113-103 win against the winless South West Slammers scoring 42 points, including 8 three pointers along with 6 rebounds.

Total Connections Perry Lakes Hawks forward Tegan Walker took out the Women’s award for Week Five after leading her side to a 71-64 win over the Metropolis Fremantle Cockburn Cougars.

Walker edged out Western Stainless Stirling Senators guard Rachel Watman, who led her side to their second win of the season over the bottom of the ladder Rockingham Flames.

Walker was in great form with 20 points, six rebounds and eight assists in the 7-point win which puts her side in the top four with a 4 win, 2 loss record.

Watman was unlucky to miss out on the award, amassing 20 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists to finish one assist shy of a coveted ‘triple-double’ in the 85-52 win over the Flames.
