Willetton's tough run continues (Friday Night SBL Wrap)

Defending men’s State Basketball League champions Willetton Tigers have fallen into the bottom four with another disappointing loss, this time a 94-90 defeat to Stirling Senators.

The Tigers have won just one of their first four matches and sit in 11th spot, even though all but one of their opponents missed the finals in 2010.

Willetton held an eight-point lead early in the fourth quarter but Stirling outscored it 33-21 to claim its first win of the season.

New Senators recruit Austin Bruton led his side to victory with 20 points, while import Robert Kampman had 28 points for the Tigers.

Rockingham Flames continued their undefeated start to the season with a 117-88 victory over local rivals Mandurah Magic.

The Flames won just eight games last season but have won their first three this year and sit as one of only three teams yet to lose.

Kent Tribbet and Jerel Allen each had 22 points to lead Rockingham to victory, while Tom Remmerswaal had 24 points for Mandurah.

All-Star forward Adrian Majstrovich scored 44 points to lead Perth Redbacks to a 121-104 win over his old side, Kalamunda Eastern Suns.

The former Wildcat played for Kalamunda for two seasons before switching to the Redbacks this year and gave the Suns a taste of what they’ll be missing.

Ryan Neill added 32 points for the Redbacks, who moved into the top four, while Suns import Dean Hadley led his side with 29 points.

In women’s action, Kalamunda maintained its unbeaten start with a 79-70 victory over Perth Redbacks, thanks to new import Leah Rush’s 23 points.

Elsewhere, Rockingham continued its winless start to the year with a 75-49 thrashing at the hands of Mandurah, while Willetton beat Stirling 89-52 to stay at the top of the ladder.
