Magic's turn the odds

THE MANDURAH Magic has turned the odds to their favour after impressive performances in their round nine games against the Kalamunda Eastern Suns.

The Magic’s Men side had an extremely close game against the Suns on Friday night, winning 93 to 95 at the Ray Owen Sports Centre.

With the Magic converting 31 of their 88 shots, the side made every attempt count, only just outing the Suns with 33 to 92.

The Magic’s trailed behind the Suns during the four periods, with only 18 points scored to the Suns 27.

But the Magic’s were not content with another loss, putting in a massive comeback during the final period.

With 29 points scored during period four, the Magic’s pushed hard against the Suns’, who only scored 16 points.

The push was just enough to put the Magic ahead, giving the side the edge they need to win the day in a heart-pounding competition.

The Magic’s Joshua Lee was the top point scorer of the day, with 24 points over the course of the game.

Ben Caporn followed closely behind, with 20 points scored during the game.

While the Suns had higher point scorers, the side was unable to have all of the team perform to the same standards.

The Suns’ Justin Brown and Austin Bruton scored 29 and 28 points respectively.

The Magic’s Women also held their own on Friday, with the side winning 80 to 68 against the opposing team.

Casey Mihovilovich once again helped lead the Magic’s to victory, with a total of 25 points scored during the game.

Also assisting the side was Kelli Hayward with 14 points and Tarsha Fletcher and Tracey Richter with 12 points each.

Melissa Moyle from the Suns was the only top scorer of the day, with 20 points, only followed by Adrienne Jones with 10 points.

The Magic’s had a constant lead during the game, with the side only looking wary after the first period, down by one point with 14 to 15.

But the side surged ahead into the game, consistently scoring over 20 points for the next three periods while the Sun’s failed to keep in time.

Looking forward, the Magic’s women will be in for a tough game against the Rockingham Flames on Friday night at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex.

The Magic’s Mens will be also in for a tough contest, with a first game against the Rockingham Flames on Friday, before taking on the Goldfields Giants on Saturday.
