Week Three PowerPlayer of the Week

Each week thanks to PowerPlay Sports, one Women’s and one Men’s SBL player is awarded the SBL PowerPlayer of the week award. The winner receives a $50 voucher for PowerPlay Sports in Subiaco.

Go for 2&5 Perth Lynx player Ashley Gilmore (East Perth) is the recipient of the Women’s Week Three PowerPlayer of the Week award. The star recruit led the Eagles to a 2-0 weekend with averages of 28 points and 17.5 rebounds per game. In an impressive display against the powerful Mandurah Magic team, Gilmore his 76.2% from the floor in her 33 point haul.

Captain of the Go for 2&5 Perth Lynx, Melissa Marsh (Willetton), was in close contention for the award with her sides 2-0 weekend. Marsh had 16 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists in her sides victory of the Eastern Suns. Marsh backed up with 24 points and 7 rebounds in the tough battle against the Perry Lakes Hawks.

Others in consideration were Kelli Hayward (Mandurah), Melissa Moyle (Kalamunda), Dana-Renae Jones (Perry Lakes), Kate Fielding (Southwest), Michelle Joy (Stirling), Emma Pass (Cockburn), Rebecca Mercer (Wanneroo) and Gail Eikhoudt (Rockingham).

Melbourne Tigers big man Daniel Johnson (Willetton) showed why he is one of the biggest pickups in 2010 to take out the Week Three PowerPlayer award. Johnson led the Tigers to a 2-0 weekend with 27.5 points, 14.5 rebounds and 5 assists per game. Johnson came up against former NBL big man Justin Brown (Kalamunda) and Perry Lakes Hawks import Robert Kempf in an impressive display that is sure to have Wildcats coach Rob Beveridge targeting him for the 2010/11 NBL Season.

Also closely considered was Mandurah Magic big man Tom Remmerswaal who led his team as they split the weekend. Remmerswaal averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds against the Eagles & Flames teams. The previously struggling Magic are now 2-3 and in 9th spot on the SBL ladder.

Also in consideration were Sam Harris (East Perth), Justin Brown (Kalamunda), Tim Kailis (Perry Lakes), Jessan Gray (Southwest), Geordie Cullen (Stirling), Bryce Burch (Cockburn), Brian Connolly (Geraldton), Bejamin Beran (Lakeside), John Vaudreuil (Goldfields), Ryan Neil (Redbacks), Doug Gates (Wanneroo) and Rhett Della Maddelena (Rockingham).
