Eagles MVP Weigh to play key role for Wildcats

Australian Central Eagles' Most Valuable Player for 2009 State Basketball League Season, Stephen Weigh is looking to take his game to the next level with the Perth Wildcats this coming NBL season.  

Weigh's confidence is high after he was selected in the recent Boomers squads that toured China and South America.  This selection has given the second-year Wildcat the confidence to reach his potential. 

Weigh played 14 games for the Morley based Australian Central Eagles in the recent State Basketball League season where he won the teams MVP award even though he was away for part of the season on NBL leave and later in the season with Boomer obligations.   In an outstanding year for the Eagles, Stephen averaged 24.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game placing him at the top of the Statistical Leaders for the Team. 

Runner Up MVP for 2009 was NBL Veteran Ben Thompson who played in all 26 games this season where he scored 411 points at approximately 16 points a game.  He also dished out on average 5 assists per game for an overall team based performance. 

The Community Newspapers Coaches Award was presented by SBL Head Coach and former Perth Wildcat Adam Caporn to Mark Stokes for his contributions to teh team both on and off the court which were highly regarded by all involved in the team this season.
