Boost for the Underdogs

THE Minecorp Rockets will tonight be boosted by the return of crowd favourite Paul Scott and Peter Hinchcliffe in its big game against Cairns.

The Queensland Basketball League game promises to be a hard-fought encounter with both sides at full strength.

Rockets coach Neil Tweedy yesterday said even though his Rockets outfit was travelling well, Cairns would be a tough test.

"This week's game is obviously going to be a tough one against Cairns, they've recruited a lot of strong players," Tweedy said.

"We're going to be starting off as the underdogs on our home court so that's always hard but we'll give it our all."

Brad Williamson, Mitch Philp and Travis Reed will be the players to watch in the Rockets. All three have been in fine point-scoring form.

"It's always going to be a team effort but Brad Williamson, Mitch Philp and Travis Reed will most likely be our top scorers," Tweedy said.

Philp won the Queensland Basketball League player of the week for round seven after shooting 24 points and contributing 12 assists in the Rockets' 92 to 69 defeat over the Gold Coast Rollers last week.

The Rockets currently sit at the top of the QBL ladder followed closely by Northside and Mackay.

The men's game kicks off tonight from 8pm at Rockhampton's Hegvold Stadium.
