Republik Rockets 2011

Rockhampton Basketball Incorporated are pleased to announce that after 10 years of being known as the Stadium Nightclub Rockets the 2010 QBL State Champions will enter the 2011 season with a new name – the Republik Rockets.

RBI Operations Manager, Jamie Boon, said, “We have been known as the Stadium Nightclub Rockets for 10 consecutive years and without the support received there is little doubt that our success over the past three years would not have been achieved.  With a change in name and business strategy the Republik has been born and we are excited to still be involved – hopefully for another 10 years”.

“To celebrate the name change the Rockets in conjunction with the Republik will be hosting a Movember Cocktail Party on Saturday 27th November to assist in generating funds for this worthy cause.  Several of our players have donned the mo’s for the month and it will be the first of many functions that we will look to be involved in the future as the new Republik Rockets”.

“Along with the branding change to the Rockets, Hegvold Stadium will also undergo significant change in the offseason which will see the laying of a new court and markings that will be in accordance with the new FIBA guidelines for playing surfaces”.

Managing Director of the Republik, Rowan Toomey stated “As long time supporters of the Rockets we have been extremely pleased with their success over the past few years – very few sporting teams from Rockhampton can lay claim to being National Champions like the Rockets can and we have been happy to be involved.  We can’t wait for them to roll out in 2011 under the Republik Rockets banner as defending State Champions”.

A draft draw for the Republik Rockets is due to be released in the next fortnight with Season Tickets to be released thereafter.
