Brisbane Basketball for a long time has been known as the leader in producing some of the best referees Queensland has ever had and that will continue for many years to come as Barry McLeod will take on the role of Referee Manager starting in 2013.

Barry brings a welath of experience to the role and has mentored, coached and developed many of the referees that you now see in the NBL, WNBL, SEABL and QBL. His eagerness to contniue to learn and teach the game of basketball to aspiring referees will see the junior referees coming through the ranks receive some of the best advice and guidance this country has to offer.

General Manager Tracey Wroe said "Barry will not just provide on the floor training but will also allow our referees to have a clear pathway to reach the highest level of basketball in Australia as he has previously done for Basketball Queensland" on the appointment of McLeod to the BBI staff.

"The Brisbane Basketball Referees Association still stands as the only Association for referees in Queensland and now with someone dedicated to the role in a paid position will mean that we can only improve the number of referees as well as the overall quality of our officials" Wroe went on to say.

"Brisbane Basketball is the home of basketball in Queensland and you only to have see the strength in our competition by the number of referees, players and coaches who come to play here from other associations, we now have without a doubt the best referee development program in the state."
