BRISBANE CAPITALS NAMED TO AUSTRALIAN U19 SQUAD

Basketball Australia is pleased to annouce three Brisbane Capitals players have been selected into the 19 man Australian Emus squad to prepare for the 2009 FIBA Under 19 World Championships.  Players Brock Motum, Cameron Bairstow and Matt Hodgeson are all Brisbane Capitals Players also currently attending the AIS.  It is the second year at the AIS for Motum, whilst Bairstow and Hodgeson attend as 1st years.  All three players have represented the Brisbane Capitals at junior level, with Bairstow and intergral member of the 2008 Capitals ABA program that narrowly lost to Rockhampton in the State semi-final.  Rockhampton went on to achieve National Championship status.

The U19 Men’s World Championships which will be held 2 - 12 July, 2009 in Auckland, New Zealand with the 19 athletes who have been selected into the Emus Squad attending a training camp at the AIS from Monday 9 March to Thursday 12 March, 2009. This will be the second camp in 2009 as the Emus squad prepares and develops for the World Championships.

The squad will also have camps in April and May before heading to France in June for some very important game practice leading up to the World Championships.
