What is the Mini Caps?

The Mini Caps program is BBI's introductory program to the Brisbane Capitals Junior Representative Teams. The program forms the first step of the Brisbane Capitals Performance Program which spans from our Under 12’s through Under 18’s right up to our Senior Men and Women QBL representative teams. Almost 300 (incl: 60 U12 players) male and female players represent the Brisbane Capitals each year at various state competitions, tournaments and events. As the introductory program of the Brisbane Capitals Junior Representative Teams, we are committed to creating a learning and development environment that is fun, enjoyable and competitive.

Our Mini Caps program includes six (6) player development sessions that lead into the selection of three Under 12 Representative Teams for both boys and girls. Each team will consist of 10 players.

Under 12 Representative Teams.
As part of the Under 12 Mini Caps program, six (6) teams of 10 players (3 x boys teams and 3 x girls teams) will be selected to represent the Brisbane Capitals in the Basketball Queensland Junior Basketball Competition (BQJBC). This competition commences November 19th & 26th with the BQJBC Grading Tournament. Then, following a short summer break over the Christmas and New Years holidays, commences in earnest on a weekly basis in terms 1 & 2. Through this competition, all players will play representative teams from across the South East Queensland region. The players will meet new players from Noosa to the Gold Coast, and out to Toowoomba. Our teams generally play on a home and away format with games schedule between 2pm - 4pm on Saturday afternoons with an occasional Sunday morning game (1 to 2 per season).

At the conclusion of the Under 12 Representative year is the Basketball Queensland Under 12 State Championship (July 7 – 10; Logan QLD). This is a tournament style event where each team will play approx. 6-7 games over a four-day period. It’s an exciting event with teams competing from all over Queensland including North and Central Queensland teams.

For Players selected to a representative team, in support of the continuing Sunday practice session, a second mid-week session will be scheduled for each team for term 1 and 2. These team specific sessions will also be held at NAB Stadium from 4.15pm – 5.45pm on either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday afternoon.
