Thank You to Dale Daisy Ryan

As most are aware Development Manager Dale Ryan is leaving us and we want to thank him for his years of service and devotion to not just his role as Development Manager but to the entire Brisbane Basketball community. Dale has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to BBI and has seen the years of service pay off through the number of athletes that have gone onto bigger things!

Dale has worked many countless hours on the hardwood at NAB Stadium ensuring that the Capitals future looks brighter than ever! His level of commitment to the game of basketball and its players, coaches, managers and volunteers especially in Brisbane has seen many not just benefit from imparting his basketball knowledge but also life skills.

Dale took on the role of Development Manager in 2006 and under his direction the likes of Ben Wilson, Brendan Carroll, Nicky Chia, Mitch McCarron, Matt Strybos, Cameron Bairstow and many more to come have gone on to play college basketball in the USA. He has helped mentor a number of junior up and coming coaches to see them take on greater roles with BBI boasting one of the best coaching fraternities in the state.

The Junior representative programs is again one of the largest and this year will see BBI teams stronger than ever as they compete for State Championships. The number of athletes who have or will go onto play for their state has increased exponentially every year he has been with BBI, the number of athletes who have made national teams has doubled and the avenues available for players from Brisbane to travel American colleges are greater than ever.

Dale has also coached the QBL Brisbane Capitals Men team for the past 4 years and managed to secure a semi-final berth in 2009 & 2011. They just came up short in 2011 to a very hot handed Mackay Meteors who were the eventual champions. This group of young men had worked with the man more commonly known by his friends as "Daisy" for a number of years through the Caps and State programs and managed to secure NBL player Tom Garlepp who anchored the side and took out MVP honours.

His ability to bring the best out of his players and coaches by setting challenges and constantly asking the question "Is there a better way to do things?" will mean that BBI and all of those who have had Dale in their ear will know that his work will see them achieve success for many years to come.

Dale was also instrumental in the flood recovery of 2011 and his ability and to slog it out with the hundreds of volunteers for days on end meant that BBI recovered in time for the Queensland U14 Boys State Championships in April that year.

Thank you and Good Luck Dale we wish you all the best, you will always be part of BBI and the Brisbane Capitals.
