WILLIAMS III TO MAKE MACKAY HOME IN 2019
The McDonald’s Mackay Meteors have added to their 2019 roster with the signing of guard Verle Williams III. Williams III has played for South West Metro for the past 3 years in the QBL and has been an integral part of that team for that period. He has also represented the Australian Indigenous team over the past 4 years and brings great flexibility to our program.
Coach Jason Borg said of Williams, “ I have had the pleasure of working with Verle over the past 4 years with the Australian Indigenous team and I am very happy to be able to add him to the Meteors roster. His speed and quickness around the court will make him a very exciting player to watch and add great flexibility to our roster.”
Verle was extremely excited about the move to Mackay and said “ I can’t wait to join the Meteors, they have been a top contender in the QBL for the past couple of years. I’m looking forward to playing under Jason again and building chemistry with my new teammates. It will be fun to play Mackay style basketball, which I feel will suit my fast-paced style.
