FREEBURN RETURNS TO METEORETTES FOR 2018

Heidi Freeburn has signed for the Global Product Search Mackay Meteorettes and will return to the team for the 2018 season.  Freeburn last played for the Meteorettes in 2011 when the team was knocked out in the semi final stage of the competition.  Freeburn has been playing for the Brisbane Capitals for the past 2 years and can’t wait to get back and put the Mackay colours on again in 2018.

“I really enjoyed my time in Mackay in 2011 and when Wade contacted me to see what I was up to this season, I was extremely interested in being involved with a program with such a great culture as Mackay’s.  The program has always had a great group of core local players and this year will be no different and I’m looking forward to being a part of the Meteorettes again in 2018”, Freeburn said.

Head Coach Ian Haughton was extremely happy that Heidi has decided to move north for the season.  “  Heidi is a proven performer at the QBL level and we believe she will bring some great leadership and direction at the point and off guard roles this season.”    We will need her to direct the team around the floor and we are confident that Heidi can get the job done.  Her defensive abilities are also a great asset to the team and I am looking forward to working with Heidi in 2018.

Business Development Manager, Wade Rebetzke said,  “  It’s great to be able to have Heidi back in the Global Product Search Meteorettes uniform.  She played when I was coaching back in 2011 and it’s great to see her reunite with our program.  Heidi will give us some depth and leadership in the backcourt for the 2018 season.”

Freeburn will arrive in Mackay in early April in preparation for the season ahead.
