HAUGHTON SIGNS AS NEW HEAD COACH FOR GLOBAL PRODUCT SEARCH METEORETTES

The Global Product Search Mackay Meteorettes are proud to announce that they have signed Ian Haughton as the Head Coach to lead the team in the 2018 QBL Season.   After a stellar season in 2017 where the Meteorettes finished as runners up, they will be looking to go one better in 2018 with Haughton at the helm.

Ian Haughton is no stranger to Mackay teams and played for the Mackay Meteors for in the nineties for a number of years and has been involved heavily with our Mackay Junior Representative Program recently.  His most recent success was a national championship with the Under 16 Mens Queensland North team at the National titles in Perth this year.

Business Development Manager, Wade Rebetzke said, “  We are very happy that we have been able to secure Ian as our head coach for 2018.  His ability to get players to buy in to his structures and to be able to get the best out of his teams excites us as an organisation.  Ian is a committed and passionate coach that will bring a great deal of experience to the women’s program and we can’t wait for Ian to get started.”

Haughton is extremely excited to take on the position.   "The Meteorettes coaching role is a privilege and without doubt a different challenge to some of the junior teams I've coached recently.  I've had the pleasure of following the Meteorettes over recent years and I'm look forward to the year ahead.  The group has a history of success which I think is great for them and the community they represent.  Further to that I see a great team culture for the younger players. It's just not the basketball but what they do and represent in their everyday lives for the people that support them."

The Global Product Search Meteorettes will begin recruiting for next season and will hope to announce some players signings in the coming weeks.
