The crowd at the McDonald's Mackay Stadium were treated to two wonderful games of QBL action on Sunday afternoon.

First up was the Global Product Search Meteorettes against the Cairns Dolphins and this game was nip and tuck from the first whistle. The visitors led by 2 at the quarter time break and by 1 at half time. By the end of the third quarter the match was all tied up at 60 apiece. The Mackay girls had a good run early in the last to extend out to an 11 point lead, before a spirited fightback from Cairns reduced the margin to two points late in the match. Cairns had a 3 point attempt to win the game, but it fell short for the locals to snatch a 2 point win 81-79.

Chevy Paalvast had 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in a MVP performance. Micaela Cocks had 20 points, Tami Willey 12 points and 11 rebounds and Nadeen Payne had 9 points and 11 rebounds.

The McDonald's Meteors then took to the court against the defending champion Cairns Marlins who are brimming with NBL talent. The Mackay lads came out firing and held a 14 point quarter time lead before Cairns reduced the margin to 8 at the main break. Coach Tragardhs half time speech worked wonders as the Meteors upped the ante in the third term, stretching their lead to 22 with one quarter to play. The visitors never really threatened in the final quarter the McDonald's Meteors running out 103-85 winners.

Shaun Bruce was again spectacular totalling 34 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Lucas Walker had 15 points and 10 rebounds, Chris Cedar had 15 points and Lukass Blicavs hit 4 timely 3 pointers in his 12 point total.
