Magic Teams Compete at Senior Country Championships

Senior Men's and Women's Country Championships was held over the past weekend at the Historical Perry Lakes Basketball Stadium.  Hot weather conditions was not enough to halt the proceedings as our teams performed well over the course of the weekend.  The Division 3 women won 2 out of their 5 games with a number of close losses over the weekend.  Led by former SBL squad member Chloe Obst the girls managed to fight out every game over the hot weekend.

A blast from the past was seen by all when a number of our more esteemed associatin members pulled on the boots again to represent the Mandurah Basketball Association in teh Veterans division.  Although the guys were unable to win a game there was some magnificent displays of basketball and mobility shown on the court.  Craig Curtis and Greg Della Santina were at allstar level for the Mandurah boys.  Their determination was only matched by the sorness in their bodies after the completion of the tournament.

The Division 1 men were able to make the grand final going down to the Geraldton Buccaneers by two points it what was seen as the game of the tournament.  After suffering a 30 point loss to Geraldton in the qualifying rounds the Magic men were able to perform to a higher level in the final narrowly missing winning the championship.  Jack Della Santina was the stand out player for the Mandurah men over the weekend.  Kane "The Puma' Thompson put on a magnificent shooting display in the game against Bunbury by hittin 9 out of 12 three point attempts.

A thanks and well done needs to also be given to Chris Spitty, Amy Upton and Frank Ralston for representing the Mandurah Basketball Association as referees over the course.
