GARBIN STEPS INTO THE FLAMES

Recently named JCU Townsville Fire MVP Darcee Garbin has once again decided to spend her winter in Townsville agreeing last week to suit up for the Townsville Flames in the 2020 NBL1 North Season.

Garbin last played for the Flames in 2018 when they fell agonisingly short of a QBL title losing the home Grand Final Series to the Southern Districts Spartans.

Her addition to the front court cements to Flames as a serious contender for the inaugural NBL1 North Women’s title.

“I am very excited to have signed an Australian Opal, Townsville Fire MVP and previous Townsville Flames player in Darcee Garbin”, said Head Coach Luke Brennan.

“Darcee is an elite level scorer with a high basketball IQ. Her strong work ethic and positive, team-first attitude fits perfectly within our Flames culture. I am certain she is in for a monster 2020 season.”

Garbin has made Townsville her home since moving from Perth to join the Townsville Fire in the 2015/16 WNBL Season.

“I am stoked to be back at the Flames. We fell short of a championship in 2018 so I am looking forward to going a step further and win it all this year in the first NBL1 North Season”, said Garbin.

“Luke has put together a really good team and I can’t wait to play with the group.”

Garbin went on to say how excited she was to play once again with her Townsville Fire Championship teammate Mia Murray.
