Senior Competitions Fee Structure

Dear Members,

With respect to the proposed changes to the fee’s for Senior Competition 2014 brokered on Monday 17th February 2014.  The proposal was considered by the TBI Management Committee and subsequently carried and will now take effect immediately.

Seniors Game Fee>

Team Game Fee Capped at a minimum of $65, maximum of $95, and individual player payment of $13.

This means that if you have 8 or more players the total cost will be averaged between $11.90 to $9.50 per player.

If a team has 5 or less (teams in A Reserve 2 down can play with 4) will pay $65 with an average player fee between $13 and $16.25.

Payment of game fee’s will be as brokered at the Club Delegates meeting in that TBI will invoice clubs weekly their game fee payment based upon player numbers listed on score sheets.

As previously done, players names on a score sheet that have not taken to the floor by beginning of the 3rd quarter (taken to the floor means either played or on team bench) will need to be crossed off.

How clubs collect these fee’s is up to them however some players have already decided to pay in advance, or some teams have nominated a person who is collecting monies from players and giving it to the club.

A forfeit fine of $190 will be imposed upon any team that forfeits a game without giving the appropriate notice (as outlined in by-laws or Playing Rules of TBI).  The team that didn’t forfeit will not be required to pay for that game.

Junior Game Fee>

No change.

CONCLUSION:

TBI is committed to introducing ‘Best Practices’ and therefore it is prudent of me to advise that this brokered agreement is to assist in hopefully supporting clubs in educating players/members to the changes that will be implemented in full in 2015.  These changes are that there will be a set game fee, with no alternatives, introduced in full in the 2015 season.

There were suggestions that we failed to advise the clubs of our intention in an appropriate time frame to assist in the changes been introduced.  The game fee change was first briefed to the clubs in July 2013, with only one club (Blackstars) expressing any concerns in relation to it.

Further, changes to the Season Structure were provided for comment to a Snap Shot of the Association Members, with only one member replying with any negative concerns regarding the proposed changes.

I would also like to remind everyone that when I stood for the position as President at the Special General Meeting in May 2013, and again at the AGM in late 2013, I outlined my intention to bring the Association into line with modern business practices and ‘Best Practices’.  This would mean a total reform of the Associations processes and policies.

There has been a growth in junior player registrations under the new system, especially in the Under 8 and 10 age groups.  This is further evidence that families are more responsive to payment in advance or full payment.

Most other Associations and sporting bodies are adopting the ‘Best Practice’ model and if we are going to compete we will need to adapt as well.

I also have been communicating these changes regularly by email and this is supported by the fact that many of these emails are now displayed on Club Social Media and websites.

We ask now that TBI and the Clubs work together to implement these changes and hopefully encourage members to register and play the game.

As with the junior competition, teams can be added weekly to the competition as only the current round will be displayed for the Pre-Season. When we commence the Championship season all teams (Junior and Senior) will  need to be nominated before the commencement of the season. There will be no changes once the grading meeting has finalised where teams play. The junior Delegates Grading Meeting is set for the 27th March, 2014 at 6pm and the Senior Delegate Meeting is set for the 3rd April, 2014 at 6pm.

Tonight is the A Grade Coaches meeting with referees and TBI staff. To date we have only received a response from Giants that they are attending this meeting. We need all clubs coaches to be in attendance to discuss the new rules and other matters on the agenda.
