Wrobel named QBL Womens Coach of the Year 2013
Mark Wrobel has continued his stellar coaching year, being named the 2013 QBL Womens Coach of the Year.
Mark led the Townsville Flames QBL side to the quarter finals for the 2013 season, after a worrying 1 - 5 start. Wrobel rallied the troops and turned them around with a mid season surge to the top 4 placing the girls into the finals.
Playing Gladstone away in the quarter final, the girls were dealt a tough card of which they took in their stride and gave their all. The lead was traded many times during the game, however unfortunately in the dying seconds of the game the Flames finished down by 2 points in a very respectable finish to a successful season.
Also in 2013 Mark's achievments go further; following a very successful U18 Womens Nationals campaign where he finished with a Gold Medal coaching the North Queensland women, he has also been offered a position in the 2015 U19 Australian team preparation in the womens side of the program.
Townsville Basketball would firstly like to congratulate Mark and the girls on a great season in the QBL. Secondly, we would like to wish Mark more successes in the future at the Australian Development Camp and beyond.
Mark has been a long serving coach in Townsville and he is certainly showing why he is regarded as one of the best coaches in our region and state.
