Gold Medal for Townsville U18 Div 1 Boys
A BIG Congratulations to our Townsville U18 boys Heat team on the well deserved Gold Medal they won Monday 6/05/2013 in Gold Coast defeating South West Metro Gold 80- 70.
The boys played hard all week only dropping one game to the Brisbane Capitals to secure the second position in their pool. They crossed over in the semi final against the Southern Districts Spartans who consist of Australian representitives. The boys showed no mercy and came out to a bit of a slow start, giving the Spartans a 20 point lead by the first quarter but their never quit attitude brought them back by the third quarter until it was tied with 5 seconds to go. The Heat boys had posession of the ball and captain Chris Kann scored a buzzer beater to win the game!
The boys faced up the next day against the southern competition champions South West Metro Pirates. They came out with all guns blazing and were up by 5-10 points the whole way. The Pirates were tough and gave the boys a run for their money but our team was too strong and determined. All players played exceptional over the week with every player contributing to their success.
