Scores were kept close until halfway through the second quarter, when Mackay tore away with their lead and build a solid margin to tie up their second win on the road. Jacquie Zelenka shot 20 points for the Meteorettes while Anna Mackay put up 10 points for Townsville.

After Townsville led for much of the first three quarters, Mackay found their form in the fourth quarter, managing to come back from 15 points down to even the scores at the final buzzer, taking the game into overtime. The extra time saw a close battle for supremacy, until Townsville came out on top by two points. Todd Blanchfield had a huge game for Townsville with 38 points and 12 rebounds, while Michael Cedar shot 33 points for Mackay.
