Townsville Flames 54 def by Cairns Dolphins 58

It was a close match in the battle of the north, with Townsville taking an early lead at halftime by a narrow margin, before Cairns came back to take the lead and the win, but with the Flames nipping at their heels throughout the remainder. It’s the Dolphins first win for the season, cemented by a stellar performance from Jade Kennedy, with 21 points and 14 rebounds, Aroon Edgar putting up 19 points for the Flames.

Townsville Heat 78 def by Cairns Marlins 84

The Marlins controlled much of the match on their home court, with the Heat managing to take the lead briefly in a late surge. Chris Cedar was on fire for the Townsville side with 35 points for the match, but it wasn’t enough with Cairns sealing their second win at home for the season, and handing the Heat their first defeat in 2012. Aaron Grabau shot 19 points for the Marlins, while Williams and Vale weren’t far away with 17 and 15 points respectively.
