Guam DB competes in 1st International World Cup Invitational

Guam Dragon Boat Federation received an invitation to compete in the 1st International Dragon Boat World Cup one month prior to the hosting of the inagural race in Fuzhou, China. Preparation by the team to compete lasted approximately one week before practice got under way but the 12 men and 12 women team took to the course against the top countries in the world. Although finishing on the bottom throughout most events, Guam placed 10th of the 12 countries in the 1000m Team Pursuit as Germany lost its steer and Italy's boat capsized.

China hoisted gold in the standard boat 200m straigh ahead, small boat 400m Team relay and 1000m Team pursuit while the Philippines paddled to the standard boat 100m and 500m straight ahead gold.

The event was held from June 10-12, 2014.
