It is with a very heavy heart that Wangaratta Basketball pays our respects to WBI longtime Referee, Referee coordinator, Domestic & Warriors Coach and Committee Member Geoff 'Mini' Lewis, who sadly passed away peacefully at home last week, on Tuesday, 7th May 2019 – Aged 73 years.

Our deepest condolences go out to June and family and friends.

Geoff was a committed member of Wangaratta Basketball for over 30+ years, touching on all aspects in the Association, from being a Referee to becoming Referee Manager, Coaching Both Domestic and Warriors between late 80's to mid 90's and during this time sitting on many Dometic and Warrior Committees.

Geoff didn't only stop at being a major part of Wangaratta's local association, he was also an Active member of a Group of Referees that travelled to many other Associations in the Area, including Benalla Basketball Association, Myrtleford Basketball, Bright Basketball, Corowa & Rutherglen Basketball to mention but a few.

Geoff also enjoyed getting on the court and playing a game or two with his beloved Hustlers Basketball Club, and whilst his children tried a few clubs during their time, Mini stayed true and loyal to the club.

Basketball in Wangaratta today has arrived where it is through the commitment, dedication and passion of people like Geoff and without him and his likes… we would not have had a rich history and a future in basketball as we have.

Thank you, Geoff, we will miss you.
